✨ We had a Spotlight Interview with Charise Bennett—have a read and be empowered.

Q: Who or what inspired you to start your business?
A: My business started on the stage at church—literally, LOL. I was asked by a friend to do stand-up comedy for an event. I said yes, even though it was way outside my comfort zone. My entire set was about being a single, childless, plus-sized Black woman of a certain age and all the hilarious, ridiculous things that happen because of it. I took everything society told me I couldn't or shouldn’t be, and I flipped it—celebrating and loving who I am, right now. That set led to the Best Me Ever Movement. It was born from my desire to help women reject societal standards and embrace their own worth.

Q: What has been your most satisfying or rewarding moment in business?
A: Every time I stand in front of people and do my purpose work, I feel deeply fulfilled. Whether someone reads one of my books, emails me after a workshop to say they’ve started journaling, or tells me they wore one of my confidence tees and felt empowered—those are the wins that fuel me. Hearing a woman say, “I’m my own biggest cheerleader now,” after struggling with self-doubt? That’s my reward.

Q: What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
A: Everything that happens—good or bad—is an opportunity. I spent years in my late 20s and early 30s unemployed or underemployed, despite having two degrees. I tied my worth to job titles, and that nearly broke me. But I kept writing—funny, raw, real reflections of life. Those stories built my brand. They gave me an audience, then a business. I learned to find the funny and the purpose in everything life threw at me.

Q: What are you most proud of?
A: My community. My mama, my aunts, my partner, my brother, cousins, friends, sorors, and even my social media besties—they’ve all been my rock. I’m proud to have such a loving, affirming, and motivating tribe. Their belief in me keeps me grounded and focused.

Q: What do you hope to accomplish in the near future?
A: Becoming Dr. Charise Bennett! I’m working toward my doctorate in psychology, and it’s challenging—but I love that it’s equipping me to serve people better. I’m also planning to launch the Best Me Ever Conference because this movement and message need to be shared on a bigger platform.

Q: What is your take on woman-to-woman inspiration?
A: Women must tell their stories. Our testimonies free others. Social media has helped us realize that we’re not alone in our struggles—our experiences are shared. Speaking your truth is a revolutionary act. We owe it to our foremothers and the generations coming after us to be brave and vulnerable in community.
