1. Who or what inspired you to start your business?
My business is inspired by my late mother, Laverne Louise Clark, who was born in 1957 and passed away 4 months before her 57th birthday. Due to her battles with mental illness all of her teen and adult life, I have Louisa57 in honor of her legacy
2. What would you like to share with anyone who is thinking about going into this field?
The field of coaching/life coaching is vast. However, what I have discovered and am currently doing is study and hone your skills. The more you study about coaching, mental development, business, and learning about people (or whatever you chosen coaching niche is), the clearer you will be on who you want to coach. Do not compare yourself to others. Each person and business will have pivots and divots. Stay committed to the practice. Surround yourself with fellow business owners because business owners understand what other business owners go through.
3. What has been your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge has been managing finances in my day-to-day life while also putting money into my business. As a solopreneur, it is a constant adjustment to budget, cutting back on some expenses, putting aside funds over a while for something that is needed both in business and in life, as well as learning to leverage or partner with others. I did pick up a part-time job as well to help take some of the financial weight off. However, my goal of being a full-time business owner is still the goal. So, it doesn’t matter what I need to do to overcome my financial constraints, my business goal is what I aim for as I am making adjustments.
4. What advice do you have for women going through challenges?
Women need support. Create a support system – join groups, get a coach of your own/therapist/mentor. Understanding from the start and throughout your business that challenges will come but knowing you have someone to help you, at the very least, think on possible solutions, will be essential to overcoming challenges.
5. What are you most proud of?
I am proud of myself for still pushing and working to develop my business. It has been a hard year with various personal issues, which almost made me stop doing my business, completely. However, with some pivots, personal development, breaks, and my support system, I am still developing my business. I am most proud of myself for that!
6. What is your take on woman to woman inspiration? Meaning women inspiring other women.
There is an energy that comes from another woman and passes to another woman. The synergy energy is what gives inspiration, strength and for some – healing. Everyone needs to have a connection to someone when they diligently work on creating and making something happen. Women need at least one other woman to motivate her to do something that will require a lot of time, patience and support. I fully support women connecting and supporting other women.
