What inspired you to go into this business?

I was inspired to start my agency business after learning the basics from working as an account representative for a local television station. As fate would have it, I was terminated from the station, but I had gained the necessary knowledge and established a great relationship with several business owners that I was inspired to launch my own agency and become a broker for them.

To what do you attribute your success in business?

There are many factors that I contribute to the success of my business.

  1. Valuing each customer and providing them with exemplary customer service
  2. Making sure that each received the best results for monies invested.
  3. Showing genuine concern and care for every client.
  4. Listening to each customer and doing the necessary tasks to help their business flourish.

What motivates you when you are faced with adversity?

When faced with adversity, I have to be self- motivated and realize that if it’s to be, it’s up to me. I draw strength from knowing that I have the God given ability to do all things and overcome all things because of who I am in Him and it’s Him that gives me strength.

What has been your most satisfying moment in business?

My most satisfying moments in business is when I played the hand that I was dealt and turned my negative thinking into positive action which increased my sales to 360%, and by doing so; I won an all-expense paid trip to Las Vegas.

The other time that was extremely satisfying was launching The Spirit of Excellence Business Awards and seeing the joy it brought to many businesses that were acknowledged.

What will you like to share with anyone who is thinking about becoming an entrepreneur?

For anyone who is thinking of becoming an entrepreneur, I would say; make sure you are a self-motivator and be prepared to work long hours. Additionally, don’t expect money to flow for several years. Some of the many challenges entrepreneurs may face are: (a) Cash flow management. The challenge: Cash flow is essential to small business survival, many entrepreneurs struggle to pay the bills (let alone themselves) while they’re waiting for checks to arrive. (b) Hiring employees, (c) (time management) (d) marketing strategy, (e) capital, (f) financing, (g) reinvesting revenues earned back into the business.

The last challenge that I will mention is loneliness, however there are others.  When you choose to become your own boss, you must accept the fact that you will spend countless hours working alone. It will be lonesome at times after being around associates in a structured environment.
